University Hospitals Bristol introduced incisional negative pressure therapy to clean-closed cardiac surgical wounds in high risk patients.
The multidisciplinary team reviewed their own data in the first instance using BHIS to ensure the predictive score for CABG SSI was useful for their setting.
Preliminary data suggests the approach of targeting patients at high risk of SSI has successfully reduced SSI.
